Now Health Insurance Can Be Renewed Online via Payment Wallets and IPS

Kathmandu— The Health Insurance Board announced that health insurance can now be renewed online through payment service providers like mobile wallets and the Interbank Payment System (IPS).

Executive Director Dr. Raghuraj Kafle stated that this new system has recently been implemented by linking the service with the Nagarik App. With this update, citizens can easily renew their health insurance directly from their mobile phones, making the process more convenient for service users.

Minister of Health and Population Pradip Paudel has been actively working to improve the health insurance system to make services more accessible to the public. One of the key improvements includes allowing citizens to access services from their local area and reducing the waiting period to access services from three months to one month after registration. This proposal has already been approved by the Cabinet and is now in effect.

Although online renewal had been approved previously, it had not been implemented in practice. Now, according to Information Officer Bikesh Malla, the public can immediately start using this online renewal service. Until now, insurance renewal could only be done through agents, which caused inconvenience for those wanting immediate renewal. The board expects that this problem will now be resolved, and renewal rates will increase as a result.
