Kathmandu— The government of Nepal has announced plans to increase the number of seats available for medical and nursing education in response to a growing shortage of healthcare professionals. This initiative is part of the national budget for the fiscal year 2082/83.
Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel stated that the government will revise existing standards to facilitate the expansion of quotas in medical, nursing, and other technical education sectors. The goal is to ensure an adequate supply of trained personnel to meet the country’s healthcare needs.
In addition to increasing educational quotas, the government has allocated NPR 560 million for the development of infrastructure for new medical colleges in Bardibas, Surkhet, Butwal, and Dadeldhura. These investments aim to enhance access to medical education and improve healthcare services across various regions of Nepal.
The decision underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare system by investing in education and infrastructure, thereby addressing the critical shortage of medical professionals in the country.
