Boao Forum 2025: Nepal Pledges Global Action on Health Impacts of Climate Change

Beijing—Nepal’s Minister for Health and Population, Hon. Pradip Paudel addressed the Asia Health Forum 2025 held under the Boao Forum for Asia, where he highlighted Nepal’s ongoing transformation in digital health and announced plans to bring the health impacts of climate change to the forefront of the global agenda.

Speaking at the forum’s plenary session on “A New Future for the Health Industry Driven by Innovation,” Minister Paudel stated that Nepal is actively working under a national strategy to digitize its health system. He emphasized that modern technologies are helping improve quality and expand access to healthcare by reducing costs, enhancing diagnosis, and improving system management and risk mapping. Minister Paudel also expressed Nepal’s readiness to collaborate with other Asian countries in this transformation.

In a dedicated session on climate change and health, Minister Paudel announced Nepal’s intent to host a global conference focusing on the health impacts of climate change. He shared Nepal’s commitment to amplifying the voices of communities most affected by climate-related health crises and pledged continued efforts to elevate this issue as a shared global concern.

As part of his official visit to China, Minister Paudel also met with Shen Hongbing, Director of China’s National Disease Control and Prevention Administration (NDCPA). During the bilateral meeting—also attended by Nepal’s Ambassador to China, Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli—they discussed Chinese support for Nepal’s vector-borne disease research center in Hetauda and explored possibilities for establishing neuro-treatment centers in government hospitals.

Minister Paudel also engaged with members of the Nepali community in Beijing, encouraging them to contribute to the nation through the skills and knowledge they have gained in China.
