Kathmandu – The Ministry of Health and Population has issued a directive to all its subordinate bodies, hospitals, and health institutions to submit detailed information regarding the land they hold.
Despite repeated complaints about encroachment on land belonging to various federal hospitals, centers, and laboratories, little action has been taken to protect these properties. In response, Health Minister Pradip Paudel instructed officials to immediately collect comprehensive data on the status of land owned or used by these health institutions.
Following the minister’s directive, the ministry has formally requested information on registered land under the names of departments, centers, hospitals, laboratories, and health centers, including details about land usage, whether any land has been leased out, and to whom.
The official letter from the ministry asks for clarification on the following:
How much land is registered under each department/center/hospital/laboratory/health center?
What is the current status of land use?
Has any land been leased or allocated to other organizations or individuals?
If so, what are the details of the lease agreements, including dates, area, lessees, and terms?
The ministry has given a deadline of seven days for the submission of this detailed land information.
