Four Arrested for Taking Nepali Youths to India for Kidney Removal

Kathmandu— A gang involved in luring economically weak Nepali youths to India and removing their kidneys has been exposed. The Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau has arrested four people from Kathmandu and Kavre on charges of involvement in this crime.

The bureau arrested two people from Kathmandu and two from Kavre. According to preliminary investigations, in just the past year, the gang has removed the kidneys of at least 50 Nepali youths in Delhi and Noida, India. SSP Krishna Pangeni, chief of the bureau, said the gang would take them to India by offering NPR 5, 00,000 to 7, 00,000. The operation mainly targeted youths from poor financial backgrounds.

Police have not disclosed the names of those arrested. However, it is suspected that the gang’s network may have spread to various districts within the country. The incident came to light after some of the victims whose kidneys were removed came in contact with the police.

SSP Pangeni said that through further interrogation and investigation, the entire network of the gang and other people involved will be identified.
