Prachanda Urges Government to Address Nurses’ Demands Immediately

Kathmandu—CPN (Maoist Center) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged the government to promptly address the demands of nurses who have been protesting across the country.

Nearly 150,000 nursing professionals nationwide have been raising concerns over low pay compared to the government’s standard salary scale, unequal treatment, staff shortages leading to excessive workload, temporary employment, lack of social security, workplace insecurity, and increasing migration abroad.

Supporting the nurses’ movement, Prachanda emphasized that Nepal’s public health system cannot be strengthened without ensuring the dignity, safety, and professional rights of nurses.

“Our party firmly believes that unless the respect, safety, and professional rights of nurses are guaranteed, Nepal’s public health system cannot be strong,” he wrote on social media.

He further emphasized the need for the government to immediately respond to the legitimate demands of nurses and uphold the dignity of a profession that serves as the backbone of the nation’s healthcare system.
