Kathmandu — All seven provincial health ministries have completed their annual provincial reviews and presented their progress and new initiatives at the National Joint Annual Review (NJAR) 2025. The major achievements highlighted by each province are as follows:
Koshi Province reported that all health facilities in the province have now met the Minimum Service Standards (MSS). Officials say this milestone is expected to significantly enhance the overall quality of health services.
Madhesh Province has strengthened its technical capacity by establishing a Biomedical Unit under the Province Health Logistic Management Center (PHLMC). The province has also initiated the implementation of MSS in Ayurvedic hospitals, aiming to ensure quality in traditional medicine services as well.
Bagmati Province launched two major initiatives—“One District, One Healthy City” and “One Local Level, One Model Health Facility.” Both programs are designed to accelerate improvements in health infrastructure across the province.
Gandaki Province has introduced a dashboard system that allows real-time viewing of service-user data. With the rollout of EMR and eHMIS systems, data management in the province has become more modernized and streamlined.
Lumbini Province has begun developing Family Health Profiles. The province has also implemented a “Zero Unspent Budget” initiative in health facilities, aiming to strengthen financial transparency and improve the efficiency of resource use.
Karnali Province has initiated a pesticide control and reduction program, marking an important step toward improving environmental and public health safety. The province has also continued regular monthly virtual meetings to improve the quality of health data.
Sudurpashchim Province has launched the Mero Mutu–Swastha Mutu campaign focusing on cardiovascular health. In addition, the province has begun the Smart Nutrition Survey to collect comprehensive data on nutritional status.
These province-level commitments and advancements are expected to contribute to stronger, more responsive, and more transparent health systems across the country.
