Dental Procedure at a Beauty Salon? Nepal Dental Association Raises Alarm

Kathmandu— The Nepal Dental Association has raised serious concerns after finding that Nirjara Beauty Salon, located in the Kalanki–Ravibhawan area, was offering unauthorized dental services—something strictly illegal and potentially harmful.

A video recently surfaced on TikTok showing the salon applying silver-like metal to customers’ teeth, which caught the attention of the association. In response, the association sent a formal letter to the Nepal Beauty Parlor Association, urging them to stop such unsafe and unethical practices immediately.

“This isn’t just about breaking rules—it’s about putting people’s health at risk,” said Dr. Pradeep Bhandari, General Secretary of the Nepal Dental Association. He emphasized that only certified dentists, licensed by the Nepal Medical Council, are legally allowed to perform any kind of dental procedure.

The Dental Association also warned that allowing such activities could tarnish the reputation of the entire beauty industry. They’ve called on the Beauty Parlor Association to take strict action and ensure such incidents are not repeated. If not, legal action may follow, they said.

“These kinds of practices not only endanger public health but also damage the dignity of medical professionals,” added Dr. Bhandari in the press release.

The Nepal Beauty Parlor Association has not yet responded publicly to the matter.
