Minister Paudel Launches National ‘Swarna Bindu Prashan’ Program to Boost Children’s Immunity

Kailali – Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel on Saturday inaugurated the nationwide Swarna Bindu Prashan program from Dhangadhi, Sudurpaschim Province. The initiative aims to strengthen children’s immunity while supporting their physical and intellectual growth.

At a special ceremony held at the Provincial Ayurveda Hospital, Minister Paudel administered the first drop of Swarna Bindu Prashan to children, describing it as a way to revive Nepal’s ancient Ayurvedic wisdom by integrating it with modern public health. He emphasized that preventive healthcare—focusing on keeping children healthy rather than only treating illness—is now a government priority.

According to Dr. Pushparaj Paudel, Chief of the Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine Division, Swarna Bindu Prashan is a highly refined formulation of nanomedicine and a neuroimmunomodulator. The Swarna Bhasma used in it is not ordinary gold but nano-sized particles of gold prepared through a special purification process that helps regulate and balance the body’s immune system. Similarly, medicinal herbs such as Brahmi and Shankhapushpi, classified as Medhya Rasayana in Ayurveda, contain active compounds, including nootropics and adaptogens, that protect nerve cells and enhance the brain’s learning capacity. Thus, it is not merely a tradition but a scientifically meaningful synergistic formulation that strengthens both the immune and nervous systems of children.

Officials highlighted that the program will be rolled out nationwide with trained Ayurveda health workers to ensure safety and uniformity. The ministry has already introduced several reforms in Ayurveda, including a new national strategy, restructuring of Singha Durbar Baidhya Khana, and the establishment of specialized Panchakarma and yoga centers.

Globally, traditional medicine is gaining recognition, with the WHO encouraging evidence-based integration into health systems. Similar Swarna Prashan initiatives are already running in India, while countries like China, Germany, and Australia are also expanding the use of traditional medicine in public health.
