WHO to Support Reconstruction of Ministry of Health and Population

Kathmandu – The World Health Organization, Nepal, has pledged to support the reconstruction of the Ministry of Health and Population, which was severely damaged during the recent Gen-Z Protest.

A team led by Dr. Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav, WHO Representative to Nepal, visited the Ministry of Health and Population on Monday to assess the situation and hold discussions with officials. Dr. Pandav said the organization is ready to provide both technical advice and assistance in rebuilding the ministry’s structure. “We are in close discussions with the ministry team, and we will provide the necessary support,” he noted briefly.

This commitment follows WHO’s recent contribution to the ongoing crisis response. The organization had earlier supplied 35 trauma bags to Civil Service Hospital and the National Trauma Center, where many of those injured during the Gen-Z protests are being treated.

Each trauma bag contains lifesaving supplies, including airway management tools, IV fluids, essential injections, dressings and bandages for bleeding control, surgical instruments for emergency procedures, and protective gear for health workers. These resources are expected to enhance the capacity of frontline medical teams to stabilize patients and ensure timely care.
