MoHP Building Found Unusable Following Fire in Gen-Z Protests

Kathmandu— The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) building at Ramshahpath has been declared unfit for use following fire and vandalism during the second day of the Gen-Z protests.

According to Subas Chandra Baral, president of the Nepal Engineers’ Association, an initial inspection found the damage severe enough to prevent the immediate use of the building.

The structure, considered an architectural landmark in Nepal’s engineering history, was designed in the style of world-renowned architect Louis Kahn and is notable for being constructed without supporting pillars.

A joint study conducted under the leadership of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, with engineers from the Nepal Engineer’s Association, concluded that the building cannot currently be brought back into operation.
